As you may or may not be aware Ebay is an auction website. In fact it is the mother of all auction websites with millions of users all over the world. It was founded in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar and has gone from strength to strength ever since.
We have been on Ebay for about 2 years and I think it is a superb site, you really can pick up some good bargains. You do have to watch out for scammers from Nigeria who will try and con you, however if you do get messages from anyone you feel to be suspicious just contact Ebay and they will sort the problem out for you within 48 hours. I find the Buzz on eBay is when you have bid on an item that you really want, and there are only a few minutes to go, and someone else bids, you bid gain and then the excitement startswill you win or be outbid? Keep pressing refresh but as I said before do not bid if you cannot afford to pay.
When you search for something, make sure to click the lowest first tab at the top, these items may have longer to run however you may also get a bargain! We have bought and sold many items on Ebay and as long as your honest with your descriptions you cannot fail to enjoy the experience.

The e-bay auction community is to date the best online auction that I have come across, i have looked at others like yahoo and freeserve auctions but i must say that they do not even come close to e-bay. They also offer many alternatives for payment such as pay-pal, bid-pay, escrow aswell as the traditional of methods such as cheque or credit card.
Own experiences
I have current bought 12 items through e-bay. This computer was one - I also bought a laser printer, 2 network cards, some books, digital camera, laptop and some blank DVD discs to name a few of them, which were all bargains.
Other peoples experiences
I do however know someone that shelled out a lot of money for a DVD burner that never arrived (this is still currently being investiaged) - he did however claim on the e-bay insurance and got an almost total refund which i believe to the total cost of the item minus 30. The insurance took around a month to come through which was an anxious time for him. He did tell me however that the person who he had the transaction with was a person with a (0) sunglasses rating, so a word of warning for anybody using e-bay or other similar online auctions is to make sure that you completely trust the person/people that you are dealing with a
nd try to deal with the companies that sell on e-bay.
